Francis Fay Memorial Fellowship
This fellowship provides partial assistance a student pursuing a graduate degree in Marine Biology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus. One award is given each year. Bud Fay was known to all whose lives he touched as a warm, caring, generous individual, a man of great integrity who was intensely interested and passionately involved in his scientific pursuits. He was recognized internationally as the world’s leading expert on the walrus. He served on the U.S. Marine mammal Working Group under the U.S.-U.S.S.R. Agreement on Environmental Protection from 1973 until his death in 1994 at age 66.
